Hello fellow FFY friends!
Admit it, the fatigue is setting in. Shuffling schedules to try new classes, squeezing in that extra 30 minute workout for maximum points, and (the hardest part for me) staying off the junk and eating healthy??? This week's school vacation didn't help either. So while part of me is counting down the days to the big finish, I'm also a bit fearful of the inevitable "now what???" We've all made real changes that are paying off. Lord knows I'm not looking to start that process all over again.
So I started to think about what kind of things I can put in place to help keep me on the righteous path. Here are three things I am hoping will help.
1. Road races - Teammate Amy convinced me to sign up for the Wild Rover Series. Three races held on consecutive Sundays in MARCH!!! That's right people, through the cold, snowy streets where most people will be either inside or, in some kind of vehicle, protected from the elements. The good news is we get beer in one of those warm, inside places when we are done. There's also a 3 mile/10k walk/run race called the Tortoise and the Hare in Salisbury in early April. Check 'em out!
2. Bathing suit shopping - Nothing like a good old trip to the swimsuit store for a little reality check. First, there's the "squeezing into the size that I am sure I should be but am not" part. Then, the realization that the suit I am trying is the size I wore in high school about 5,000 years ago :( Finally, the blinding white skin poking out in all sorts of places it shouldn't be seals the deal. The only thing from keeping me from downing a pint of Ben and Jerry's is knowing that I still have time before summer is actually here. Now is no time to be slacking off. Onward ho!
3. Group fitness - Even when the official Team Training session is over I am hopeful our team will keep our Monday/Friday workouts with Kristin. Knowing we are all committed to showing up makes all the difference on those days when I could either A. Go to team training or B. Stay in my pj's, drink a pot of coffee and work until the kids come home; at which time I have lost all opportunity to get out and burn off some stress. The Group Fitness classes do the same thing for me. I love the regular schedule I've got planned out each week. Makes it a no-brainer to just get up and go.
With that I wish you all good luck during these last couple of weeks. What do you all have planned for life after Team Training? Please share :)
